Dinant Statement on the Eviction in the Paso Aguán Plantation Tegucigalpa, Honduras. July 3rd, 2014. As we informed in a statement issued yesterday, July 2nd, the Palm Oil Plantation "Paso Aguán", belonging to Dinant Corporation, located in the Bajo Aguán region, in Honduras, was invaded once again by armed groups, and today, the government security forces proceeded to evict the invaders. Dinant Corporation, makes to public knowledge that the eviction, as the law corresponds, was carried out by the security forces of the State of Honduras, none of Dinant Corporation/ Exportadora del Atlantico employees was involved with it. According to the information we handled, the representatives of the Armed Forces tried to dialogue with the invaders so that they could evict private property voluntarily. Without having an affirmative answer, the invaders proceeded to attack the authorities, with the result of some wounded and beaten on both sides. In Dinant, we reaffirm our willingness to dialogue, and we invite the invading groups to stop such actions to avoid putting the lives of people at risk. We regret the actions of groups that, like this one, decide to take actions outside the law, risking the lives of the people who represent the State of Honduras and them as well.
